Everett's Big Arrival

Getting ready for the delivery of Everett was much different than when I had Ryan. since I was having a planned c-section i had my mom keep ryan the night before my surgery. Surprisingly I was able to get a few hours of sleep that night. The next morning we woke up at 4:30 a.m., got ready, and headed to the hospital. Things moved so quickly that before I knew it I was on the operating table and Everett was literally on his way. Once I heard his first cry I immediately broke out in tears....it's the best sound in the world!

I was able to get a few looks at him before they took him out to the nursery. I spent a couple of hours in recovery and then was wheeled to my room where Jarrod, Ryan, my mom, sister, dad, and step-mom were waiting on me. After successfully moving from the stretcher onto the hospital bed (not easy to do wen you can't lift or feel your legs), the nursery brought me my new little man and I finally got to hold him for the first time. I was surprised at how much hair he had...but I guess that explains all the horrendous heartburn I had during pregnancy.

Ryan didn't seem to pay much attention to Everett in the hospital; she was more interested in spending time with all of the visitors we had. My sister stayed with me most of the time so that Jarrod could be home with Ryan at night...I think it was her excuse to spend some extra time with Everett. By Sunday night I was definitely ready to go home. I had not gotten to see Ryan very much that weekend and was starting to feel a little bit homesick.
Monday morning Jarrod, Everett, and I left the hospital and headed to pick up Ryan from his grandparents house. Immediately when she got in the truck and saw the baby she started pointing at him and saying "Baby! Baby!....Ebit!" Once we got home she didn't mess with him too much, but loved giving him kisses on the top of his headd and helping me burp him by patting him on the back. She's been the best little sister so far and I thank God everyday for blessing me with such a beautiful family.

Getting Ready for Baby Eggo!

Baby Shower....35 weeks preggo!

This pregnancy has gone by fast....very fast! Although I do complain about all of my "symptoms," I am very thankful that it hasn't dragged on and on (like Ryan's did). We just had my baby shower this weekend and I received some really great gifts! Everett's room is painted, the crib, dresser, and glider are all set up. All we have left is to hang everything on the walls and start packing his bag for the hospital. I can't believe he'll be here in 4 weeks (or less)!

I went to the doctor today and everything looks good. He said I could go anytime now and to start looking out for contractions. I can't believe he's about to be here, I still can't seem to get my mind around it. For the longest time when anyone would asked me if I was "ready" for him to be here I would so "no!" I know it's going to be stressful with a 1 year old, a baby, and being in school full time, but I'm happy to say I am finally ready! I feel very privileged to have a daughter and now a son. Jarrod and I have decided we will just be a family of 4, so this will be our last child...for anyone who did not already know that.

As much as I'm ready for Everett to be here (and to not be pregnant anymore) I will miss it just being me and Ryan. I've already had a few moments of 'guilt' knowing that I'm about to have to share my attention with another child instead of giving it all to her, but I know she'll be alright and she'll probably love having someone to play with other than me (I know I can't be that much fun). She loves being around other kids, so I think she's going to like having a little brother. I'm not that worried about it.....I think I'm more worried about the lack of sleep I'll be getting.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

My sister told me to watch some show called "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution," so I set up my DVR to record it. Friday night comes around, Ryan's asleep, school work is done, so I decided to watch it. Literally 10 minutes into it I was hooked. I could not believe how bad we all eat....I'm guilty of it too. And what's even worse is that the food in the school cafeteria's is probably the worst food you could possibly feed your kids. I'm very glad I watched this before Ryan ever starts school, because unless something changes, she'll be taking her lunch every single day.

Jarrod and I are already pretty strict when it comes to what Ryan (and we) eat....all my friends and family know this. But I'm taking it up a notch. I myself have decided not to eat chicken, beef, or pork again...but that's a personal decision and I don't expect Ryan and Jarrod to do the same. I will, however, make sure that the meat that Ryan does eat is not processed. I thought we were doing okay by giving her the Tyson white meat chicken nuggets every now and then....I mean, they're better than rib meat nuggets, right? Well, after reading the package they are still minimally processed and that's enough to make me toss them out. And for everyone out there that doesn't understand what "processed" meat is, either google it or watch the 2nd episode of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. It's completely disgusting.

Jarrod and I had already started incorporating organic and natural foods into our diets, but we've definitely decided to really concentrate on eating better all the time. Don't get me wrong, I still have my sweet tooth and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon, but as long as we can start making small changes (such as no beef, no white bread, etc), I think it'll definitely pay off in the end and I strongly urge everyone to do the same.
