Getting Ready for Baby Eggo!

Baby Shower....35 weeks preggo!

This pregnancy has gone by fast....very fast! Although I do complain about all of my "symptoms," I am very thankful that it hasn't dragged on and on (like Ryan's did). We just had my baby shower this weekend and I received some really great gifts! Everett's room is painted, the crib, dresser, and glider are all set up. All we have left is to hang everything on the walls and start packing his bag for the hospital. I can't believe he'll be here in 4 weeks (or less)!

I went to the doctor today and everything looks good. He said I could go anytime now and to start looking out for contractions. I can't believe he's about to be here, I still can't seem to get my mind around it. For the longest time when anyone would asked me if I was "ready" for him to be here I would so "no!" I know it's going to be stressful with a 1 year old, a baby, and being in school full time, but I'm happy to say I am finally ready! I feel very privileged to have a daughter and now a son. Jarrod and I have decided we will just be a family of 4, so this will be our last child...for anyone who did not already know that.

As much as I'm ready for Everett to be here (and to not be pregnant anymore) I will miss it just being me and Ryan. I've already had a few moments of 'guilt' knowing that I'm about to have to share my attention with another child instead of giving it all to her, but I know she'll be alright and she'll probably love having someone to play with other than me (I know I can't be that much fun). She loves being around other kids, so I think she's going to like having a little brother. I'm not that worried about it.....I think I'm more worried about the lack of sleep I'll be getting.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

My sister told me to watch some show called "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution," so I set up my DVR to record it. Friday night comes around, Ryan's asleep, school work is done, so I decided to watch it. Literally 10 minutes into it I was hooked. I could not believe how bad we all eat....I'm guilty of it too. And what's even worse is that the food in the school cafeteria's is probably the worst food you could possibly feed your kids. I'm very glad I watched this before Ryan ever starts school, because unless something changes, she'll be taking her lunch every single day.

Jarrod and I are already pretty strict when it comes to what Ryan (and we) eat....all my friends and family know this. But I'm taking it up a notch. I myself have decided not to eat chicken, beef, or pork again...but that's a personal decision and I don't expect Ryan and Jarrod to do the same. I will, however, make sure that the meat that Ryan does eat is not processed. I thought we were doing okay by giving her the Tyson white meat chicken nuggets every now and then....I mean, they're better than rib meat nuggets, right? Well, after reading the package they are still minimally processed and that's enough to make me toss them out. And for everyone out there that doesn't understand what "processed" meat is, either google it or watch the 2nd episode of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. It's completely disgusting.

Jarrod and I had already started incorporating organic and natural foods into our diets, but we've definitely decided to really concentrate on eating better all the time. Don't get me wrong, I still have my sweet tooth and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon, but as long as we can start making small changes (such as no beef, no white bread, etc), I think it'll definitely pay off in the end and I strongly urge everyone to do the same.

My Special Valentine

I love Valentine's Day...I've always thought it's a much needed holiday. Although we tell our husbands that we love them everyday (I hope everyone does that), I like having a special day set aside for just that....love. As sappy as it may be Valentine's Day allows us to rekindle that spark that brought us together in the first place. Today was the first Valentine's day we've ever gone to church on, and it was amazing! I wish this holiday landed on a Sunday everyday. Our church is doing a new series on relationships (or "relationsLips" as they call it). Today Pastor Dave talked about marriage and discussed what women need from their husbands and what they need in return from us. His sermon made so much sense. He talked about how God has to be the core of your relationship for it to have a fighting chance. I'm so thankful that I have a God-fearing husband. He is absolutely amazing and I couldn't have picked a better man to be the father of my kids. It melts my heart everytime I see him with Ryan. She's definitely a 'daddy's girl' and considering I'm a daddy's girl myself, I couldn't be more pleased. Jarrod is a wonderful provider, terrific father, and an amazing best friend. I can't imagine my life without him and I just wanted to take a moment to tell him that. I love you baby and I look forward to everyday we get to spend together for the rest of our lives :)
